Jim Jones & Chrissy Lampkin On Why They Quit ‘Love & Hip Hop’

Chrissy Lampkin - Jim Jones

Jim Jones and Chrissy Lampkin have been very successful with their spinoff, “Chrissy & Mr. Jones,” but the couple is finally breaking their silence on why the quit “Love & Hip Hop,” a show they developed.

For two seasons, we watched VH1′s “Love & Hip Hop” reality series which was centered around the relationship of Chrissy and Jim. But, by the second, season it seemed like everything had spiraled out of control and the dissension within the cast reach a point where the reunion show had to be conducted as one-on-one interviews with Mona Scott-Young.

It was the beginning of the end for “Love & Hip Hop” and Jim Jones and Chrissy Lampkin.

In an exclusive interview with CoCoFab, Chrissy and Jim discuss their reasons for leaving a show they created.

Jim Jones: That is our baby. That’s like a bad ass kid that we didn’t want,” says Jim. “That was our template. ‘Love & Hip Hop’ above anything else, above all, if we didn’t walk in and tell them the way we wanted to be on television and the way we wanted our show to be, which was ‘Love & Hip Hop,’ no one would have anything to do with any type of ‘Love & Hip Hop.’

Chrissy Lampkin: It turned into Gladiators. I felt like we were back in the Roman times. You bring somebody in and it was survival of the fittest and that’s never what I signed up for.

Jim Jones: Me and Chrissy were asked to do the third season of ‘Love & Hip Hop’ and we would have been executive producers on the show because they know it was our show,” he said.

But because we don’t choose to compromise our dignity and we’re not willing to jump off a roof for this blaxpoitation, we would rather do our own television show and fight our own battles that way.

It’s cool for them but that’s not what we were interested in. I tip my hat to them for making the show a success but it won’t be a success without making a mockery of me or Chrissy or us compromising any morals we have.

Since Chrissy and Jimmy’s departure the show hasn’t been the same. Season 3 of “Love & Hip Hop” struggled so badly it was painful to watch. Now, that they’ve revamped the cast (again) in hopes that it will be more interesting to watch.

Chrissy & Mr. Jones” returns on October 28 at 9pm on VH1 and this season we will be introduced to Jim Jones‘ son, Pudy, who now lives with Jim and Chrissy full-time. It will be interesting to see our favorite couple in parent mode.

Will you be watching?
